9:30 AM – Meet in rm 2340 for Workshop Welcome & Information

  • Introduction to workshop leaders and participants
  • History of prior workshops
  • Aims and goals of the workshop

10:00 – Workshop Technical & Group formation Instructions

  • Download free “Map My Walk” application to Mobile Devices:
  • Brainstorming ideas and group formation

10:30 AM – Meet our Local Expert David Eddy, CEO of Skwachàys Lodge and Urban Aboriginal Fair Trade Gallery, and Vancouver Native Housing Society, for a walking & talking tour of the hood.

  • Meet downstairs in the entrance to SFU @ 149 W. Hastings
  • We walk with David Eddy who introduces us to the Woodwards historic area & the Lower East Side / Gastown neighbourhood

11:30 AM – In the Field
Location: Continue your group explorations in the Woodwards historic area & neighbouring streets

  • Group work: collecting documentation and shooting documentation: mobile narratives, imagery, photos, video
  • Working out your location/s and stories

1:00 PMish – Lunch Break 

  • Participants on their own for lunch, work out the timing with your group!
  • ISEA has arranged a variety of gourmet food-trucks to be available on site, see

2:00 PM – Project Assembly with Guidance from the Workshop Organisers
Location: Return to SFU, Room 2340(the lab is open all day for us so timing is flexible!)

  • Download and upload photos, videos, and text to Google Earth

3:30 PM – Coffee Break (refreshments available in the foyer)

4:00 PM – Show & Tell

  • Participants briefly demo their work and show and tell their stories

5:00 PM – Review and Conclusions

5:20 PM – Feedback forms

  • Workshop participants give us their feedback (4 question format)  and leaders collect feedback documentation

5:30 PM – Workshop Ends
