Facilitators

Dr. Martha Ladly is a designer and an artist, a technologist, and a philosopher, with a backstory in the tech and entertainment industries, and a former career as a musician and songwriter. She is a Professor at OCAD (Ontario College of Art & Design) University in Toronto, Canada, where she specializes in interactive and experimental media, art, and design. She is the former Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, at OCAD University in Toronto, Canada. She held the Chair of the OCADU Research Ethics Board (2008-2011), and was Graduate Program Director of the Interdisciplinary Master’s Program in Art, Media, and Design (2009-2011), and recently led the development of the Graduate Program in Digital Futures. Ladly was the Director of the Canadian digital arts and culture website HorizonZero.

Glen Farrelly is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto and digital media consultant. His doctoral research examines mobile media, geoinformatics, and the interplay with our spatial relationships. Glen was awarded SSHRC scholarships for his doctoral and master’s research. He has a MA in Communication from Royal Roads, an Honours BA in Fine Arts from York University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Internet Management from Humber College. Glen has presented and published for IEEE, ASIS&T, Journal of Location Based Services, and Technology and Disability.

Ana Jofre received her PhD in Physics from the University of Toronto, did Post-doctoral work at NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in Gaithersburg MD, and taught and researched at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte for six years before transitioning her career towards the arts, completing a BFA during this time. She then completed her MFA at OCAD University in Toronto. Her publications and conference presentations cover a wide range of intellectual interests, from physics to cultural studies, and she has exhibited her artwork extensively. Her creative and research interests include figurative sculpture, the uncanny, puppetry, robotics, and data visualization. She is currently employed as a post-doctoral fellow in the data visualization lab at OCAD University.
